A small town somewhere in Japan: Tradition is very important and therefore every boy has to wear the same haircut. One day, a boy from Tokyo arrives with dyed hair! Yoshino, the barber, wants to keep things as they were, but the boys are beginning to resist. How long can the tradition be preserved?

About Naoko OGIGAMI
荻上直子

Naoko OGIGAMI was born in Chiba Prefecture in 1972 and began to study film at the University of Southern California in 1994. After that, she worked on commercials and made her first short films. Her feature debut came with YOSHINO’S BARBER SHOP (2003 / NC ‘04). Since then, her works have been screened at numerous international film festivals. Her films GLASSES (2007 / NC ’10) and CLOSE-KNIT (2017) were awarded at the Berlinale. In 2024, she was a member of the NIPPON VISIONS Jury and presented her film RIPPLES (2023 / NC ’24).
