A Big Home

In Japan, around 42,000 children and young people live in state-funded homes; a foster care system similar to Germany’s does not exist. At 18, they must leave these institutions and live on their own, often hindered by past traumatic experiences. Ryo TAKEBAYASHI’s poignant and poetic documentary focuses on children and caregivers at a home in Tokyo.
