About Yutaro SEKI
関友太郎

Yutaro SEKI (b. 1987), Kentaro HIRASE (b. 1986), and Masahiko SATO (b. 1954) met at Tokyo University of the Arts and have been working together since 2012. Their first short film collaboration, HAPPO-EN (2014), was invited to the 67th Cannes Film Festival. After achieving international success with further short films, they made their feature film debut ROLELESS (NC ’23) in 2022, which competed at the 70th San Sebastian Film Festival. SAI: DISASTER (2025 / NC ’26) is their first directorial work without the participation of Masahiko SATO and is based on the miniseries SAI (2025).
