Inugami

Nippon Cinema   ª

Inugami are menacing gods who cause trouble in the mountain village of Omine unless they are stopped. This is the task of 40-year-old Miki Bonomia, who lives alone in the forest as an outsider and dedicates herself to paper production. With the arrival of the young teacher Akira in Omine, the spirits awaken again and haunt the villagers in nightmares. As commanded by a foreign power, Akira is drawn to the woods, where he undertakes long walks. When he encounters Miki there, it seems destined that they will make friends with each other with the disapproval of the villagers. The more time Miki and Akira spend together, the more often the spirits haunt the village, which soon leads to tragic incidents. The angry villagers wonder what Akira's arrival has to do with the ghosts and why Miki seems to get younger and younger. When Miki becomes disloyal to the gods on a rainy day, fate takes its course.
