In the 1970s, Satoshi is a member of a communist terrorist organization. After a warrant is issued for his arrest, he goes into hiding, leading a rootless existence. Veteran director Masao ADACHI, who spent many years underground and in prison for his membership in the Japanese Red Army, adapts the real-life story of Satoshi KIRISHIMA, who turned himself in to the police shortly before his death – after 49 years on the run.

About Masao ADACHI
足立正生
Masao ADACHI, born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1939, began making films during his studies at Nihon University and is considered one of the most influential experimental filmmakers of the 1960’s, having worked with Nagisa OSHIMA and pink film director Koji WAKAMATSU, among others. In the 1970’s, he joined the Japanese Red Army and went to Lebanon, where he lived until his arrest and deportation to Japan in 2000. With THE PRISONER (2006 / NC ‘07), he again took up his work as a filmmaker with a focus on political activism. His latest film is ESCAPE (2025 / NC ‘25).
