Widowed and retired professor Gisuke Watanabe’s modest life is made less lonely by visits from former students. But he is increasingly disturbed by fear of an “enemy” whom he reads about on the Internet. Daihachi YOSHIDA’s haunting black-and-white exploration of paranoia won the Grand Prix and the Awards for Best Actor and Best Director at the 2024 Tokyo International Film Festival.
