He is not only confronted by loads of trash but also by dark secrets. In his witty and challenging film, director and scriptwriter Takayuki KAYANO draws a sensitive portrait of the people living at the edges of Japanese society.

About Takayuki KAYANO
萱野孝幸
Takayuki KAYANO was born in Oita Prefecture in 1990 and studied at the Department of Visual Communication Design of the Kyushu University. After his feature film debut CALANDIVA (2018), he shot THE JELLYFISH INCIDENT (2019). His third feature film JOURNEY BEYOND THE NIGHT (2021) won the Best Picture Award as well as the Audience Award at the 2021 SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL and was also screened at the 34th Tokyo International Film Festival. He also works as a scriptwriter.
