Summer, sun and a cold dessert – what could be better? Lina Zivanovic shows you how to prepare a special dessert from her hometown of Chita: taihomaki, "cannon rolls" in English. With a little finesse, you will soon be able to try this delicacy at home.

For this cooking course you will need:
Ingredients (approx. 8 pieces)
• 100g eggs
• 85g sugar
• 85g flour Type 405
• 4g honey
• 0.5g baking soda
• 85ml water
• 200g anko (sweet, red beanpaste made from adzuki beans – either homemade or from a well-stocked Asian market)
Optionally for ayuyaki:
• 20g glutinous rice flour
• 30g sugar
• 30ml water
• Corn starch
Required utensils:
• Medium bowl
• Whisk
• Non-sticking pan
• Paper towels
• Cake rack
• Ladle
• Optional: pastry bag
