Sion SONO

園子温

Sion SONO wurde 1961 in der Präfektur Aichi geboren. Nachdem er schon während seines Studiums an der Hosei University 8mm-Filme gedreht hatte, gewann er 1987 für A MAN’S FLOWER ROAD den Großen Preis beim PIA Film Festival. 2008 gelang ihm mit LOVE EXPOSURE (NC ’09) der internationale Durchbruch. Seitdem hat er zahlreiche Preise gewonnen. THE WHISPERING STAR (2015 / NC ’16 und NC ’20) wurde beim Toronto International Film Festival 2015 mit dem NETPAC Award ausgezeichnet. Nippon Connection widmete SONO 2011 eine umfassende Retrospektive.
