Sachi HAMANO


Sachi HAMANO, born in Tokushima Prefecture in 1948, studied at the Tokyo College of Photography and began working as an assistant director in 1968. She established herself as one of the few female directors in the pink film genre in the 1970s. Since her directorial debut JUNANA SAI SUKI SUKI ZOKU (1971), she has directed and produced over 300 films exploring sexuality from a female perspective. In 1985, she founded the production company Tantansha. She has received multiple awards for films such as MIDORI (1998) and LILY FESTIVAL (2001). Her autobiography “When a Woman Makes a Film” was published in 2005.
