Nippon Cinema ª
The funeral of doctor Mitsuo Suzuki brings his family back to snowy Sapporo. From there, a family story unfolds that dates back to the Second World War. Nobuhiko OBAYASHI proves that he still masters the techniques of radical formality. Fast editing and rapid dolly shots punctuate a storyline that doesn't sugarcoat topics like Japan's involvement in the Second World War and nuclear energy.
