A life of freedom from all conventions: 22-year-old Kei refuses to conform to Japan’s achievement-oriented society. He lives as a “jiyujin,” a free man, on the streets and under the bridges of Kyoto. His love for nature and music keeps him afloat in his dream world. However, when he runs out of money, he is forced to confront reality.

アンドレアス・ハルトマン

Andreas HARTMANN, born in 1983, graduated from Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF with a degree in cinematography and went on to study under Professor Thomas ARSLAN at the Berlin University of the Arts. He shot his first feature-length documentary film, DAYS OF RAIN (2010), in Vietnam. He received an award at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival for A FREE MAN (2017 / NC ’18).
