120 B.C.: Roman architect Lucius Modestus is struggling with designing public bathhouses that can keep up with the trends of his time. While visiting the baths in order to find inspiration, he gets sucked into the drain – and finds himself in modern day Japan. The ideas he adapts from Japanese bathing culture might even help the Romans win a war.

About Hideki TAKEUCHI
武内英樹

Hideki TAKEUCHI was born in 1966. After completing his studies at Waseda University, he began working at Fuji TV in 1990 and directed numerous successful TV dramas. His big break came in 2012 with THERMAE ROMAE (NC ’13). His subsequent films THERMAE ROMAE 2 (2014) and FLY ME TO THE SAITAMA (2019 / NIPPON CINEMA AWARD 2019 and Japan Academy Film Prize 2020) also achieved great success.
