Patema is the princess of a people living underground. On one of her tours through the tunnel system of her empire, she explores the mysterious, forbidden “danger zone” and falls into a deep pit. She finds herself in another world, controlled by a totalitarian regime, where everything is upside down – including the boy she meets… One of the most mind-boggling and interesting animes in recent years!

About Yasuhiro YOSHIURA
吉浦 康裕
Born in Hokkaido in 1980, Yasuhiro YOSHIURA graduated from the Kyushu Institute of Design. Since the year 2000 he has been producing short animated films with his company Studio Rikka, amongst them PALE COCOON (2005) which won him critical acclaim. In 2010, he directed his first feature-length anime TIME OF EVE: THE MOVIE. His follow-up film PATEMA INVERTED (2013 / NC ’14) was shown at numerous international film festivals.
