A nameless man is part of a group that gives housing to homeless people in order to collect their welfare payments. His indifference ends when he discovers a familiar face from his past among the exploited. Shifting between color and monochrome sequences, the poetic film delves into the protagonist’s mind and deals with the exploitation of the poor and social apathy.

竹馬靖具
Yasutomo CHIKUMA, born in Tochigi Prefecture in 1983, began his film career in 2004 as an actor before gaining international recognition in 2008 with his directorial debut NOW, I… (NC ‘08). In 2011, he wrote the screenplay for Tetsuya MARIKO’s film NINIFUNI, which was invited to the Locarno Film Festival. THE ARK IN THE MIRAGE (2015 / NC ‘16) and THE DEEPEST SPACE IN US (2015 / NC ‘26) have been screened at Nippon Connection.
