After Kikuo’s father dies, Kabuki actor Hanjiro takes him in. But a rivalry flares up between Kikuo and Hanjiro’s son Shunsuke. Since premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025, KOKUHO has become a sensation, breaking Japanese box office records. The opulent drama won eleven awards at the Japan Academy Film Prize.

About Sang-il LEE
李相日
Sang-il LEE, born in 1974 in Niigata, is a Japanese-Korean director and screenwriter. At the Japanese academy awards, he has received awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and other honors for HULA GIRLS (2006). His following project VILLAIN (2010) also received numerous awards.
