The Mars Canon
Nippon Cinema ª
Kinuko leads an orderly life, in which even the weekly appointment with the married office worker Kohei has its fixed place. One day she meets the quirky street poet Manabe and his somewhat eccentric roommate Hijiri. Kinuko befriends the two, although Hijiri reproaches her for her affair with Kohei. They do a lot together, but the more Hijiri tries to get close to her, the more insecure Kinuko reacts. Why does Hijiri want her to break up with Kohei? Why does Hijiri take care of her so nicely and even move into the apartment next door? Slowly, she comes closer to the truth and to herself. Sensitively, Shiori KAZAMA tells the story of the eternal struggle of people in their relationship networks. With no certainty of how this struggle will end, one is prepared to take it up again and again.
