Shading Realities – Japanese Folktales Between Truth and Fiction

In Japanese narratives, the boundaries between reality and fiction are often blurred. In his lecture, scholar Yuki TOKUNAGA uses myths, narrative traditions, and an international art project to demonstrate how different interpretations shape our perception of reality. TOKUNAGA also introduces the aesthetic concept of wabi-sabi, which understands ambiguity and imperfection as central elements of Japanese culture.
