Japanese master director Yasujiro OZU (1903–1963) created icons of world cinema such as LATE SPRING (1949) and TOKYO STORY (1953). Daniel RAIM’s biographical documentary focuses on OZU's diaries, tracing his professional and personal development, especially during the war. Filmmakers including Kiyoshi KUROSAWA and Wim WENDERS reflect on OZU’s influence.

About Daniel RAIM
ダニエル・レイム
Daniel RAIM, born in Israel in 1974, grew up in the USA and studied at the American Film Institute. His documentary short THE MAN ON LINCOLN’S NOSE (2000) was nominated for an Oscar in 2001. Later documentaries such as HAROLD AND LILIAN: A HOLLYWOOD LOVE STORY (2015) were screened at numerous international film festivals. He has also produced over 30 film portraits of international filmmakers for the Criterion Collection and the Criterion Channel. THE OZU DIARIES (2025 / NC ’26) had its world premiere at the 2025 Venice Film Festival.
