On the island of Shikoku, a pilgrimage route connects 88 Buddhist temples. Pilgrims set off in search of their true selves – often in secluded natural settings and sometimes through interactions with local communities. Shiho KATAOKA accompanied several pilgrims and created a documentary that conveys the power of centuries-old spiritual traditions.
