In Kenji MIZOGUCHI’s THE WATER MAGICIAN, artist Tomo goes into debt to finance the law degree of her lover Kinya. As she finds herself in an ever more hopeless situation, things finally escalate. This 1933 silent film is narrated live by famous “Benshi” (film narrator) Ichiro KATAOKA, accompanied on piano by Günter A. Buchwald.
