In the late 1950s, Yucha and his family live in a remote mountain village plagued by frequent typhoons, whose origins are shrouded in legend. Fearing for his mother’s life, Yucha sets off with a mysterious wooden bowl to find the cause of the storms. Against a backdrop of breathtaking landscapes, Masakazu KANEKO tells a story of fate, tradition, and lost love.

About Masakazu KANEKO
金子雅和
Masakazu KANEKO, born in Tokyo in 1978, began making his first movies on 8mm and 16mm film while studying Politics and Economics. After graduating, he received lessons at the Film School of Tokyo by Takahisa ZEZE. His feature film debut THE ALBINO’S TREES (2016) was shown at over 20 international film festivals and received numerous accolades. RING WANDERING (2021 / NC ‘22) brought him further international success. RIVER RETURNS (2024 / NC ‘25) is his third feature film.
