This quirky and colorful dark comedy develops into an exploration of unconventional relationships and the secrets and obsessions hiding beneath the surface. About Mai SAKAI
酒井麻衣
Mai SAKAI was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1991 and studied at the Kyoto University of Art and Design. Her independent directorial debut BE A LIGHT TO THE WORLD (2015) received numerous awards. Her commercial breakthrough came with OPENING NIGHT (2017). CHA-CHA (2024 / NC ‘25) is Mai SAKAI’s first film to be screened at Nippon Connection.
