Equipped with a skateboard and a greaser hairstyle, Eichi ekes out a living in Tokyo as a private eye. One day, his ex-girlfriend Kyoko asks him to find out more about her late father’s former lover. Their lead: an old film reel, which guides the likable protagonists of Atsuro SHIMOYASHIRO’s laid-back road movie to the island of Jogashima.

About Atsuro SHIMOYASHIRO
下社敦郎
Atsuro SHIMOYASHIRO, born in Mie Prefecture in 1987, studied at the Film School of Tokyo. After working on a number of film scores, he started making his own short films in 2016 and was selected as a promising new director at the Kanazawa Film Festival the same year. He made his theatrical debut with THE MODERN LOVERS (2019). LONESOME VACATION (2023 / NC ’24) is his second feature-length film.
