Horses, Feelings, And Shapes: On Properties Of Reality In Animation

Nippon Culture   º

A lecture by Çağıl HARMANDAR

Çağıl HARMANDAR’s practice-based research at Tokyo University of the Arts in Yokohama is focused on concepts of reality in relation to film, painting, and animation. The role of empathy and bodily sensation is examined as contributing factors to the “realistic effect” of animation, and abstract animation is used as a technique to understand how animation can “micro-control” our experience as well as our construction of realities.
