The City Of Lost Souls
Nippon Cinema ª
Tokyo is seething like you've rarely seen - Yakuza, the Triads, the world of Brazilian immigrants, and in the eye of the hurricane a Chinese-Brazilian lovers and a Matrix-style cockfight: Brazilian Mario saves his Chinese girlfriend Kei from deportation in a furious action kick-off. Now the two are stuck in the Brazilian community of Tokyo on their escape and urgently need money. Mario and Kei procure it for themselves and thus trigger a gang war, which makes the Tokyo underworld baring its teeth. And so their dream of sunny freedom turns into a bizarre nightmare that ends in a bloody showdown in the dark street canyons of Shinjuku. THE CITY OF LOST SOULS is not afraid of poses or absurd action - the main thing is that the visual intoxication carries you away. Takashi MIIKE unleashes a high-speed fireworks display on the audience, in which nothing is meant seriously and everything is set to full throttle.
