MIYAMATSU dies over and over again, but only for the camera. His hobby as an extra in gangster and samurai films makes his otherwise unremarkable life as a cable car driver a little more pleasant. But being a character without a name or a story has left its mark – as MIYAMATSU realizes when he has to play the leading role in his own life.

Masahiko SATO (b. 1954), Yutaro SEKI (b. 1987) and Kentaro HIRASE (b. 1986) met at Tokyo University of the Arts and have been working together since 2012. Their first short film collaboration, HAPPO-EN (2014), was invited to the 67th Cannes Film Festival. After achieving international success with further short films, they made their feature film debut ROLELESS (NC ’23) in 2022, which competed at the 70th San Sebastian Film Festival.
