Ozan and Ramazan were displaced from their homeland and came to Japan as children. They are two Turkish Kurds who are considered illegal aliens by the authorities but continue to apply for refugee status in order to work. Filmmaker Fumiari HYUGA provides an insight into the precarious living situation of young migrants suffering under Japan's rigid immigration laws.

About Fumiari HYUGA
日向史有
Fumiari HYUGA, born in Tokyo in 1980, joined the television production company Documentary Japan in 2006 and shot several short documentaries, including works on the military draft in Ukraine and Syrian refugees in Japan. His short film TOKYO KURDS (2017) was later extended into a feature-length version that won him the NIPPON DOCS AWARD at the 2022 Nippon Connection Film Festival. I AM A COMEDIAN (2022 / NC ’23) is his second feature-length film and had its world premiere at the 2022 Tokyo International Film Festival.
