Hayao MIYAZAKI, born in 1941, is the superstar among anime directors. He has worked in animation since 1963 (including HEIDI), and has been making feature-length films since 1979. PRINCESS MONONOKE was the most successful Japanese film of all time, and was succeeded by SPIRITED AWAY.
