Eiji UCHIDA
内田英治
Eiji UCHIDA was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1971 and moved to Japan at the age of ten. He began his career as an assistant director on TV productions by Takeshi KITANO and others. As a director, he initially made television films and series before making his theatrical debut in 2004 with GACHAPON. This was followed by other independent films such as SISTERHOOD (2007 / NC ’08), GREATFUL DEAD (2013), and LOWLIFE LOVE (2015 / NC ’16), which were screened at numerous festivals. MIDNIGHT SWAN (2020) received three awards at the 44th Japan Academy Film Prize, including Best Picture.
