Hirai, a death-row prison guard, handles the routine work dispassionately. He is about to get married to Mika, a single mother. Hirai finds out that if he acts as the supporter during the execution of Kaneda, he’ll be entitled to a week’s vacation. So he volunteersfor this job, one which everybody loathes, in order to make time to be with his new family.

About Hajime KADOI

Hajime KADOI, born in 1973 in Ibaraki Prefecture, began studying film at the New Cinema Workshop after the success of his short film A MODEST ATTEMPT. He attracted international attention with his feature debut THE CORNER OF THE SHELF. VACATION is now his long-awaited second feature film.
