Noriaki TSUCHIMOTO’s documentary follows the victims of Minamata disease in a four-year trial against the company Chisso which was pumping highly toxical mercury into the sea over decades. Even today the film has not lost its shocking power.

About Noriaki TSUCHIMOTO
Noriaki TSUCHIMOTO (1928-2008) studied at Waseda University and joined radical student groups. He is considered one of Japan's most important political documentary filmmakers and was best known for his films about the effects of Minamata disease.
