The kingdoms of Zol and Akhafa are at bitter war when a deadly disease stops the invasion of the all-powerful Zol and leads to a seemingly peaceful coexistence. 安藤雅司

Masashi ANDO, born in Hiroshima in 1969, applied successfully for a job at Studio Ghibli while still studying at Nihon University College of Art. He became the chief animation director for such films as PRINCESS MONONOKE (1997) and SPIRITED AWAY (2001 / NC ’03). THE DEER KING (2021 / NC ’23) is his directorial debut.

宮地昌幸

Masayuki MIYAJI, born in Kamakura in 1976, also started his career at Studio Ghibli and worked in such positions as assistant director to Hayao MIYAZAKI for SPIRITED AWAY (2001 / NC ’03). The anime series XAM’D: LOST MEMORIES (2008-2009) was his first work as a director.
