Tony Takitani grows up by himself and becomes a technical illustrator. Eventually, he meets Eiko and marries her. Life changes for the better and he is happy with his wife, even if she's obsessed with buying designer clothes. After Eiko dies, Tony desperately places an ad searching for a woman who is a perfect size 7.
