Images Of Protest, Images As Protest: Japanese Cinema And Political Activism

Despite the medial deficiencies of cinema, across the globe filmmakers have charged their images with revolutionary potential. This lecture will focus on how political activism was depicted on Japanese screens in the 1960s by relating materials of Koji WAKAMATSU, Masao ADACHI and Motoharu JONOUCHI to documentaries by Shinsuke OGAWA and Noriaki TSUCHIMOTO.
