Tranquility and Shadow

In a series of portraits of Japanese filmmakers, photographer JUMPEITAINAKA directs his gaze toward the inner darkness hidden deep within the heart. By contrast, paper and light artist Kazuki TAGUCHI uses his installation of glowing origami cranes made from withering grass to spatially trace the echoes of transience.

Relation Shape – Visualizing Human Relationships

If relationships had a shape, what would they look like? Japanese artist Keiko YAMAGIWA has been capturing human interactions through photography since 2005. Inspired by poetry and physicality, she seeks connections in a time of growing misunderstandings. She will present her project at Nippon Connection and – from June 5 to 7 – also invites the audience to become part of the exhibition themselves through on-site photo sessions and short performances.
