For over 50 years, the Numakage public pool in Saitama has been a gathering place for people of all generations and backgrounds. When it is threatened by an urban redevelopment project, a wave of sadness sweeps over the community. Director Shingo OTA captures the various stages of grief, showing how people say goodbye to a place that shaped their lives.

About Shingo OTA
太田信吾

Shingo OTA was born in Nagano in 1985 and made his first films while studying philosophy at Waseda University. His graduation project, the short film GRADUATION (2009), won two awards at the Image Forum Festival in 2010. Shingo OTA has previously been welcomed as a guest in Frankfurt for his first feature documentary, THE END OF THE SPECIAL TIME WE WERE ALLOWED (2013 / NC ‘14). His first non-documentary feature FRAGILE (2014) was screened at the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival. For NUMAKAGE PUBLIC POOL (2025 / NC ‘26), he received the Student Jury Prize at the 2025 Kinotayo Film Festival.
