Behind The Mirror: Some Different Views On Japanese Cinema
Nippon Culture º
A Lecture By Dr. Jasper SHARP
For over 25 years, Dr. Jasper SHARP has been dedicated to his fascination with Japanese cinema as a critic, author, curator, producer, and filmmaker. In his lecture, he looks back at some of the key titles he has worked with – from the films of Koji WAKAMATSU and the stop-motion-animation of Kihachiro KAWAMOTO to the Japanese-North Korean co-production SOMI: THE TAEKWON-DO WOMAN (1997). He examines the various factors that shape our notion of what exactly constitutes “Japanese cinema”.
