A Lecture By Chantal Bertalanffy
Current discussions show that Japan has some catching up to do in the area of equal rights. In the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Index, the country is only ranked 121st. Chantal Bertalanffy, filmmaker and Ph.D. student in Japanese Studies at the University of Edinburgh, focuses on the portrayal of women in contemporary Japanese film, cinema as artistic activism, and Japan’s up-and-coming female directors against the backdrop of the #metoo movement.
