Dai, the hearing son of deaf parents, grows up as an interpreter between two worlds. When he realizes that he is different from other children, he starts blaming his mother for his frustrations. At the age of 20, he moves to Tokyo to become a reporter and confronts his own prejudices. Mipo O’s sensitive drama is based on a true story.

About Mipo O
呉美保

Mipo O, born in Mie Prefecture in 1977, is a third-generation Korean-Japanese. After graduating from Osaka University of Arts, she worked as a screenwriter for director Nobuhiko OBAYASHI. In 2006, she made her directorial debut with THE SAKAIS’ HAPPINESS. HERE COMES THE BRIDE, MY MOM! (2010 / NC ’11) was screened at various festivals, including the Busan International Film Festival. In 2014, her drama THE LIGHT SHINES ONLY THERE marked a major breakthrough in her work, winning her several prizes. After BEING GOOD (2015 / NC ’16), she took a nine-year break from filmmaking and only resumed her career in 2024 with LIVING IN TWO WORLDS (NC ’25).
