Robotopia Nipponica Revisited

The robot revolution, artificial intelligence, and "Society 5.0" – if one believes the media coverage in and about Japan, robot visions seem to be omnipresent in everyday life. In her lecture, Cosima Wagner takes a glance behind the Robotopia Nipponica facade, reflecting on the topic of medical care robots in Japan from a perspective that combines Japanese Studies with a critical approach of futures of technology research. She will also present the results of a field study she conducted in Japan in January 2020 in cooperation with an interdisciplinary research team.
