A stranger stirs up trouble on the turf of two rivalling yakuza clans. He plays them off against each other, triggering an avalanche of violence. His own agenda remains obscure until connections to the alleged lover’s suicide of a policeman and his mistress appear. YOUTH OF THE BEAST is an example of Seijun SUZUKI’s eccentric use of color, music, and visual composition that brought him international fame and recognition.
