Shinto Faith in Modern Japan

Nippon Culture   º

A Lectury by Takuro OKADA

Why is a cat appointed stationmaster in Japan? Why does “stupid” practically mean “holy” in Japan? Answers can be found in Shintoism, the Japanese natural religion that is practiced in peaceful coexistence with Buddhism in Japan. In his lecture, Takuro OKADA explores the Shinto faith as the “spiritual truth” of the Japanese and places Shintoism in relation to the hectic pace of modern society.
