On November 8, 2025, actor Tatsuya NAKADAI passed away aged 92. This year, NIPPON RETRO is screening nine films to pay tribute to the life’s work of an exceptional artist who shaped Japanese cinema over numerous decades. After his breakthrough role as the lead in BLACK RIVER (1957), NAKADAI quickly became one of the biggest stars of his era. He is renowned for his versatile portrayals of psychologically complex characters and was propelled to international fame by films such as HARAKIRI and RAN.
